INDIA
India has got to be the most interesting country in the world. It’s diversity is unequaled. It’s culture, color and texture have no parallel. Each moment is a new adventure, like nothing you’ve experienced anywhere else. I was lucky enough to travel through the Southern portion of this incredible country for nearly 3 months. I was mostly climbing rocks, reading, practicing yoga and swimming in the ocean, but I did manage to take some pictures along the way. Here are just a few of my selects from the trip. My absolute favorite being the 3rd one from the very bottom, while her sisters washed their family clothes in the river (background), a precious and beautiful little girl came up to me trying to sell me a collectible playing card with the almighty Hanuman (monkey god) printed on the front. Her bindi struck me almost as much as her eyes did. Click to enlarge. Please enjoy.
Stuck in traffic in Bangalore.
My wife to be, through the mirror glass of our rickshaw.
Downtown Bangalore at night (currently 10 million people live in the city)
A single speed bicycle leaning against a brick wall, how interesting – I could not resist.
Telephone pole.
Boarding the train is never an easy feat, notice the lone man near the top fighting the flow.
A loving family, tired, but together, a warm cup of chai. Taken from our cramped bunk above.
Mysore.
Walking down a narrow corridor, we spotted these two young twins playing in their doorway. Their mother was very kind.
The gateway to Hampi.
The main temple in Hampi at sunrise, and an older ruin in the foreground. Notice the bird perched on the lip.
Lydia, upon arriving to Hampi she rests her feet for the first time after 3 days of non-stop traveling. a.k.a HUSTLING.
The rice fields in Hampi. Our home for almost 5 weeks.
With cigarette in hand, and cheeky grin on his face, a local man on his way to the river for a bath.
A beautiful life.
A hard working lady.
Transporting the old fashioned way. A father and two sons.
Not the zoo, just another day in town.
A craftsmen and tools of the trade.
The strip in Hampi.
The endless boulders. 400 square miles in all.
Last ferry of the day.
Taking time to let go.
Before we left these rice sprouts would be over a foot tall.
A man and his son. While hanging over the side of a fast moving train is normal in India, this moment would be impossible with the rules and regulations we keep in North America. India is a place where nearly anything goes, which is both good and bad, depending on who you ask.
A young girl with an interest in photography perhaps.
The one and only elephant in Hampi is never seen without chains.
The sunset from the Hanuman Temple, where the monkey god himself was born.
A chilling portrait of a street performer.
A hot day by the warm river.
Just another day come and gone, and tomorrow will be today again.
The two most hilarious and outgoing men I met in Asia, stop for a moment of seriousness.
A guard with rifle over his shoulder stands watch at the airport in Gao.
Chai and water, and more chai.
Sunrise express.
Some like it hot.
Another bicycle and brick wall scenario.
A fascinated child gathering figs in Ramanagar.
A cow, sadly, rummaging through a pile of trash for scraps. Plastic is all it gets.
Committed to the core.
My second favorite photograph of all time.
This picture was actually taken by Lydia while on a scooter ride. I saw the young boy from the road, she saw the shadow of leaves on the wall.
As sharp and witty as they come, he’ll take you across the river, for a fee, and a laugh.
Enough said.
More than enough said.
Brothers, goat herders, friends.
Little girl and her cards.
A real baba who never leaves his post, and his eyes never leave your presence.
Two self portraits from a scooter ride into the countryside.

Great shots… I spent 6 months in India, north to south, amazing, breathtaking, no words to explain this country, it was my first winter climbing boulders and we went to Hampi as well. Did you get to see that elephant take a bath at sunset? His chain does go loose sometimes.
Thanks for sharing
